After graduating from high school I then proceeded to East Los Angeles College where I got an Associate degree in Business Administration. I later moved to California State Polytechnic University Pomona where I got a B. S. degree in Finance in August 2007. After graduating from Cal Poly Pomona, I went back to my hometown Guangzhou. I’m presently working as a human resources assistant at XXX College, Guangzhou, China, where I help research and evaluated management practices, I also engaged in various training and development programs, leadership principles and employee relations. My human resource assistant job also made me responsible for recruiting procedures, screening of candidates, coordinating interviews. Reason for Pursuing a Master degree Most of my coworkers got master degree, except me and their English are great too, most passed English at sixth level exam in China. Sometimes, I receive headhunting company call about some positions which are meant for my supervisor in international companies. The headhunting calls are meant to request for information about my boss’s. I have realize that China is a place with a lot of talented people, they have higher education and also very smart. There is increase in competitions among our youth, Hence an advanced education is necessary for me to succeed in this ever dynamic world. Secondly, China’s economic growth is rapid these years. I found that Chinese Corporations have large size of accounting department, Operation Department, Technical Department and Marketing Department, but they do not have appropriate size of Human Resources Department. The status is totally different in US. When I was studying in US, I did a lot of research program about the large Corporation in US, I then discover that the director of human resources may supervise several departments, each headed by an experienced manager who most likely specializes in one human resources activity, such as employment and placement; compensation, and benefits; training and development; or labor relations. As the global marketplace and rapidly-evolving technology are creating a new and more competitive business environment, I believe that professional human resources management is an increasing vital area in China. Therefore I decided to get my master degree. Why US When I plan to further my education, there are many places I can choose. There are three places in my decision, Hong Kong, Australia and US. I made some comparison here: Advantage Disadvantage Hong Kong Nearly my family and I can meet and take care of my parents easily. HK university require high GPA, my GPA is low. Hong Kong’s mother language is Cantonese; it is not a good environment to improve English. Australia Easy to apply a University and get a visa there. Good English Environment. There is few National University in Australia. They follow British education system. And tuition is expensive. USA Most mature and advanced education. I got my bachelor degree in US; I adapt the US education system. The tuition is expensive and very hard to get a student visa. After prolonged meditation, and communication with my parents, I made a decision to go back to US get the master degree. Study Plan I plan to study Master Degree in Human resource Management at Golden Gate University which last for one and a half year. Because I understand that my low GPA in undergraduate has weaken my application. But I strongly believe that Golden Gate University has high quality graduate program for me, and reasonable tuition. They gave me the foundation and in-depth training, what I needed for the contemporary marketplace as a human resource or personnel manager. They have dynamic classes and laboratories where you discuss theory and practice from real-life situations and problems. The Master of Science degree in Human Resource Management requires completion of 33 units in the graduate program. Each course listed carries three semester units of credit. The foundation program I took in undergraduate University can be waived 6 units. I still have 27 units to finish. I plan to take 12 units each semester, therefore I think I can finish the program in one and a half year. Financial Supporter I started working a couple of months ago, I do not have enough money, but my mum will support my tuition. She is working at a famous, well paid company in China and also she is a superintendent, she has enough money to support my education. Also she believes now it is the best time to go out to further education, because she will retire in 5 years time. At that time if I need her support, she said she might not have enough money to give me. Returning After I accomplish my studies in US, I will go back to China. Personally, I am an extremely miss-home girl; I enjoy staying with my parents and family eating and drinking every week in Guangzhou. I remember when I was studying in US, I used to talk to my parents on the phone everyday. Furthermore, I believe in the developmental potentials of Human resource in China, after I graduated I think there are more opportunity waiting for me.

The Parental Influence On Children Young People Essay Though parental liability laws are creating a great deal of controversy, there is little doubt that parents exert a huge influence on children and their behaviour. One research proves that alcoholics were likely to have parents who were alcoholics, while domestic abusers were likely abused themselves as children. Academic and research literature contains a wealth of information tying parental influence to childrens behaviour. In the area of peer influence, for example, Chen et al (2007) note that, in a study among California and Wisconsin high school students, it was found that parental influence on peer affiliation still is significant even as parental involvement in adolescents lives diminishes. But it isnt only growing teens that respond to parental influences. Infants, even very young infants, respond to parental stress and react to it (Molfese et al, 2010). In fact, it has been revealed that parental stress and/or reaction can actually have an impact on vocabulary and cognitive development (Molfese et al, 2010). On the other side weve seen literature extolling the positive benefits of tools such as parental training on the success of children. For example, Sheely-Moore and Bratton (2010) discussed how a family-oriented, strengths-based approach toward working with lower-income African American families helped raise childrens grades while lowering school discipline problems. The authors in this study pointed to the need of positive parental involvement on childrens academic achievement and socio-economic development, though pointed out that parental involvement can be difficult for those who live in poverty (Sheely-Moore and Bratton, 2010). Furthermore, it has been proven that parental influence also has an influence on driving among their teenage offspring (Crawford-Faucker, 2009). According to the National Young Driver Survey (involving 5,665 students in grades 9 through 11) parenting styles had a definite impact on choices the young drivers made (Crawford-Faucker, 2009). The authoritative parenting style combining emotional support with clear rules and monitoring had a definite (and positive) influence on driving-related behaviours and other attitudes among adolescents (Crawford-Faucker, 2009). These teens had a lower crash risk, experienced fewer crashes as passengers and were twice as likely to wear seat belts as a driver (or passenger) then were teens with uninvolved parents (Crawford-Faucker, 2009). Furthermore, this group reported less alcohol use (Crawford-Faucker, 2009). But harsh verbal and physical discipline isnt necessary the way to go, either. McKee et al (2007) studied harsh verbal and physical discipline and child problem behaviours in a sample of 2,582 parents and their fifth and sixth grade children. The findings indicated that the harsh discipline was associated with child behaviour problems, with one dimension of positive parenting parental warmth helping to buffer children from the more detrimental influences of the harsher physical discipline (McKee et al, 2007). In this section that parents have a huge influence on their kids, whether those kids are tiny, helpless infants or defiant teenagers. Children tend to mimic their parents, for better or for worse. Some years ago, the organization Partnership for a Drug-Free America aired a series of advertisements showing a father breaking into his sons room, drug paraphernalia in his hands. Where did you get this? the father thunders. Where did you get this and how do you know about it?I know about it by watching you! the son cries out. I watched you do it! The point of the commercial, of course, is that children will take their cues from their parents. If parents act in a responsible manner and own up to a mistake or problem situation, children will take that same cue. If, however, parents are carelessness and put the blame on other people for their own mistakes, children will do the same things. Discussion The issue we need to address here, however, is that this is not necessarily a black or white scenario. Tyler et al (2000) point out that the parental liability laws, in which parents are charged with the crime committed by their offspring, could end up penalizing the poor. In a poor family, both parents might be working leaving their children to their own devices, simply because they cant afford child care. Furthermore, if a child is delinquent, poor people (at least, in theory) may not be able to afford counselling to find out the problem. Few people want their children to be delinquent (especially lower-income people). But then again, even among poor families, we find out that not all children are delinquent. What is the difference between the well-behaved children of poorer families and those who act out? One word: Parenting. Even if there isnt a male role model in the house, many times, the matriarch of the family takes a strict stance among her offspring, raising Cain if the offspring get into trouble. Furthermore, there are resources for parents of lower income families to find help for their children if there are issues. Though going through governmental red tape can be a hassle to find a counsellor, a community agency or even religious organization official can be of great help in an area such as this. The point here is that there is really no excuse for the parent not to get help if the child acts out.What about if the childs mother is little more than a child herself? If this is a situation of a teenage mother who doesnt know how to parent, the situation changes a little, but not a whole lot. The teen mother still needs to be penalized, and then needs to be mandated to attend parenting classes. Failure to do so is the teen moms choice and if the teen mom doesnt attend classes, this tells the law enforcement officials that her defiance could be passed on to her children. Poverty isnt a good thing and it makes things very difficult, especially as it pertains to the parent-child relationship. But to use that excuse not to charge parents for a childs conduct is passing on responsibility. Such a situation may serve as a wake-up call for not only the child, but the parent who is involved with the childs upbringing. Conclusion Parenting is not an easy job and there is nothing more frustrating than hearing from the school or from the police that ones child is in trouble. Furthermore, there are those who point to the fact that trying to manage an unruly team is tough, and its not the parents responsibility if the teen gets into trouble.But this isnt true. Weve shown, through the literature, that parents have influence on their teenagers, even if their teenagers dont seem to be listening to them. Parents who keep lecturing to their kids about the evils of drugs and alcohol abuse are likely to have kids who grow up disdaining both of those substances. However, if kids see their parents freely addicted in alcohol (or drugs), the kids will ask themselves why not? and go ahead do the same thing. Parental liability laws arent meant to be malicious, nor are they meant to beat up on parents. What they are trying to do is to help parents teach their kids some responsibility. Even parents in poverty stricken families have a choice as to how they raise their kids. If they make the wrong choice, and the kids break laws as a result, the parents need to be held responsible.

Marriage is Sacred Marriage has always been a sacred agreement between a man and a woman. This definition was written in the Bible and sanctified by God. Our country was founded on the principles of the Bible and therefore should not support an action, such as legalizing gay marriage, which goes against our founding beliefs. When it comes to the issue of gay marriage, Americans have many different views. Research shows that the majority of Americans oppose gay marriage, but when it comes to deciding who should make the laws, Americans are split in half (Bayles 6). 48% of Americans said that the federal government should make the laws and 46% say it should be left to the states (6). This information shows that the majority of Americans have strong opinions about the issue, but don’t know of any way to solve the issue (6). The controversy of gay marriage is seen even in groups who support strong marriages. Author Karen Peterson uses her article to address the issue of how gay marriage sits with the â€Å"marriage movement,† the coalition of professionals dedicated to strengthening marriages (7). This movement has successfully included pro-marriage initiatives across America and formed new high school courses on relationships (Peterson 7). Peterson finds that the â€Å"marriage movement† has many different views within itself and struggles with the question of â€Å"How can one be a proponent of marriage in general but oppose marriages between gays† (7). David Blankenhorn who is the founder of the Institute for American Values and an important member of the coalition, says that they hope to settle the issue and no longer be silent about it. Becoming Literate & Literate Traditions   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  The first thing that comes to mind when I think about children is education. Most parents want their children to grow up and become Doctors and Lawyers and to be well off. So to help with this dream the parents try to start their children’s education as young as possible. This is why there are such learning programs as Hooked on Phonics and others like Fisher Price. Both of these programs are geared towards helping children achieve literacy at early ages. These programs almost eliminate the need for parents to read to their children or help them with school work, however this in not the case in some families and also communities in today’s society. Some Families feel that their children should go to private schools others to public and then on to college to pursue a degree. This is not the case with either Becoming Literate or Literate Traditions. Both of these illiteracies describe families and even whole communities that have different views on edu cation.   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  In Becoming Literate the Fishers, an Amish family, censor what their children read, â€Å"Eli and Anna attempt to carefully control the reading material that enters their home† (Fishman 239). The do this because they are Old Order Amish. They try to eliminate all outside influences that might have a negative effect on their children. The people of Trackton, Literate Traditions, are the complete polar opposite. They do not impose at all on the material that their children read, â€Å"adults do not create reading and writing task for the young, nor do they consciously model or demonstrate reading and writing behaviors for them†¦Ã¢â‚¬ ¦children are left to find their own reading and writing tasks†(Heath 298). This demonstrates two totally different perspectives about reading and writing in which the parents have both a passive influence and a somewhat dictatorship like presence. In Literate Traditions, children play games to help seep their learning along. They sometimes read the return addresses as a type of game, â€Å"Reading names and addresses and return addresses becomes a game-like challenge among all the children, as the school-age try to show the preschoolers how they know â€Å"what dat says.†(Heath298) This also brings up another difference between the two literatures. The children of Trackton ask frequent questions towards the adults which in turn the adults respond to their inquiries. These questions range from â€Å"what is that† to â€Å"how dose this go†.

England is filled with a mixture of different dialects and pronunciation. Every area or city has its own dialect pronunciation and specific words only used in that area for example in east London â€Å"innit†. The closer the areas are the more similar they are. In addition people living in a specific area have their own peer groups; these peer groups have their own sociolect. Sociolect basically, means language spoken by a social group, social class or subculture. In this regards it differs to the dialect of that area slightly. Every person in that peer group has their own idiolect. Idiolect means a variety of language unique to an individual. It is manifested when that person chooses the word phrases or idioms which are unique to an individual. The idiolect you speak is influenced by many factors, for example the area you live in, where you are from and who is in your peer group. These could happen simultaneously which will make your idiolect even more unique. I believe that your idiolect is mainly changed by your geographical location. My idiolect has been changed drastically through the years I have been living. Even though I was born in the UK the first language I was taught was Farsi, this was minor setback however I was able to overcome this issue. As I was sent to school, I renovated this issue and I was able to distinguish both languages and I usually never had to code switch. As I grew my knowledge on the English language increased considerably, however my amount of Farsi I knew increased at a really steady pace. This is because in school I was improving my English as it was a requirement at home this didn’t happen a lot, my parents only wanted me to know the basics of my language and that was satisfactory for them. In addition my mum and dad wanted me to fit into society better. They done this by the process of primary socialisation, they told me not to swear, not to code switch so that I do not have to be deviant in school and to speak in standard English. At a very young age of 6-7 I was slightly getting confused with the English language. This is because as I spent time with my peer group they taught me their sociolect, at the time I wasn’t educated on this topic enough. For example one day my friend told me when we were inside to â€Å"Look out† as there was a ball flying towards our window at a high speed. As I was not educated, I thought he literally meant for me to look outside luckily I did look outside but the ball missed me. This use of a phrasal verb confused me; this is because phrasal verbs also confuse non-native speakers and I wasn’t that educated on this new type of dialect. At this time I started to mix both standard English and my sociolect until I reached 8 years old. At this time I was able to make out the type language I should use in school, the one I should use with my friends and the one I should use at home. Even though I was able to differentiate when to speak each language I still had problems. My English at this time was getting better day by day however my Farsi improvements came at a standstill. When I use to speak to my parents, and I could not find the correct term in Farsi, I had to say it in English. This caused me to code switch even more. But then there are other scientist who got even deeper and learn what created the planets and stars these scientist are called astronomers and we have learned so much from the science and research they do every day. One major theory from the scientist is that the universe was created by the mixture or gases and matter. And the gases and matter collided into each other until a huge explosion occurred that form suns and giant rocks that later formed into stars and planets. According to the big bang theory a great explosion occurred over 13. 5 billion years ago because of the mixture of dark matter and gases. The fusion occurred when the universe was a small as a period at the end of a sentence. This spark created the planets, stars, and galaxies we know and learn about now. We also know this because of random glows from all around the universe left from the big bang these glows are known as cosmic background information. The planets were first asteroid like blocks that collided with one another to create planets this happened over many years and formed planets all around the universe.
